期課程修了私は分子進化学を専門とし、精神・神経系疾患の進化的な起源の探索をテーマに研究を行っています。ヒトの精神神経疾患の中には、他の生物種では発症しない疾患があります。なぜヒトでは発症してしまうのか、この疑問を進化の観点から理解することを目指しています。そこで、疾患の分子病態がみられる生物種・みられない生物種を特定し、それらの疾患原因遺伝子に関して、機能的な比較をしています。現在は、タウオパチーという哺乳類の特定のグループに偏ってみられる神経変性疾患について、本アプローチを適用して研究をしています。My research focuses on molecular evolution and includes exploration of the evolutionary origins of psychiatric and neurological disorders. Some psychiatric and neurological disorders in humans do not develop in other species. Understanding this species-specificity of disease from an evolutionary perspective is the goal of the project. For this purpose, specific species with and without disease-causing molecular pathology are first investigated, and functional comparisons are performed on their disease-causing genes.
