Some psychiatric and neurological disorders in humans do not develop in other species. Understanding this species-specificity of disease from an evolutionary perspective is the goal of the project. For this purpose, specific species with and without disease-causing molecular pathology are first investigated, and functional comparisons are performed on their disease-causing genes.
